🏔️ Mount Vardablur & Dragon Gorge
📍 Mount Vardablur is in Armenia’s Vayots Dzor province, near the villages of Zedea and Gnishik. 🐺 Its twin peaks look like a wolf’s or bear’s ears from a distance, which is where the mountain gets its nickname, “Gayli Akanjner” (Wolf’s Ears).
🥾 The trail starts in Zedea, about 140 km from Yerevan. It’s a 17 km round trip with 1327 m of elevation gain to the 2455 m summit, which has wide views over the southern highlands. 🌄
🐉 On the way, we walk into Vishapi Kirch (Dragon Gorge), a narrow natural canyon on the mountain’s slopes. 🏰 On the western side stands Proshaberd, a 13th-century fortress.
✨ This route combines a mountain hike, a canyon walk and medieval history in one day.
